kathy_aboutmeAfter twenty four years in private practice and over fourty three years in a successful marriage, psychotherapist, mediator, coach, and author, Kathy Infeld says a good relationship brings great joy and takes work. With a 50-60% divorce rate today Kathy says couples are naturally jittery about walking down the aisle.

In couples counseling and in her book, Creating Love For A Lifetime - The Five C’s To A Successful Marriage, Kathy gives partners the tools, many couple examples, couples exercises and the inspiration to create a successful and joyous relationship. Kathy has had a private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona for over twenty two years. She is a nationally certified mental health nurse,  practitioner level mediator and a certified coach. Kathy has been trained in the following therapeutic techniques:

Cognitive Analytic Therapy - Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) is a system of treatment in which the therapist helps the patient to understand why things have gone wrong in the past – and explores how to make sure that they don’t go wrong in the future.

Cognitive Behavioral -  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (or cognitive behavioral therapies or CBT) is a psychotherapeutic approach that aims to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure.

Family Systems Therapy - Family Systems Therapy is based on the idea that individuals are best understood through assessing the entire family. Symptoms in individuals are seen as expressions of dysfunctions. The family is an interactional unit and a change in one member effects all members. Family therapists believe that an individuals relations have more impact in their lives than any one therapist could.

Gestalt Therapy - Gestalt Therapy is an existential/experiential form of psychotherapy that emphasizes personal responsibility, and that focuses upon the individual's experience in the present moment, the therapist-client relationship, the environmental and social contexts of a person's life, and the self-regulating adjustments people make as a result of their overall situation.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) - EMDR is an information processing therapy and uses an eight phase approach to address the experiential contributors of a wide range of pathologies. It attends to the past experiences that have set the groundwork for pathology, the current situations that trigger dysfunctional emotions, beliefs and sensations, and the positive experience needed to enhance future adaptive behaviors and mental health.

Intuitive Processing - Through the question and answer process, Intuitive Therapy assists you in reaching clarity and understanding, which allows you to have different awareness from the information you think you already have. Having new insight opens your understanding and allows you to see things from a different perspective. 

Kathy brings all of her experience from her private practice and a fourty-three-year marriage to guide couples in their self growth and in loving one other. Eight years ago, Kathy felt called to focus on couples therapy as the divorce rate had become alarmingly high. That statistic continues today and the U.S. Census Bureau reports 20% of marriages now end within only five years. In fact, one in four of that twenty percent end in only two years. Kathy wants to be a part of changing the outcome of that for couples.

She offers all the knowledge, experience, and resources she has gained from her private practice, the presentations and lectures she gives, the workshops she guides, and the radio and television interviews she participates in.

”Everywhere I go people want to know how to have a happy marriage, ” Kathy says. Her answer and life's passion is to offer each partner hope, and to provide them with the tools and rewards for working on a ”Love for a Lifetime”.
